What happens when a heterosexual couple try to take on the “rules” of an open gay male relationship?
Don and his partner, Frank, buy the house next door to Gina and her husband Bill. Don and Gina lived together when they were younger, and have been best friends for most of their adult lives. Now in their late thirties/early forties they co-habitate once again, only this time as neighbours. But these days their lives couldn’t be more different. Gina and Bill’s lives revolve around their family and rearing their two young children. For Don and Frank, life is still a succession of parties, drugs and boys (not necessarily in that order). When Don takes Gina to a dance party again, she relives for one night the impetuous fun of her youth. What happens to Gina and Bill, then, when they decide to adopt Don and Frank’s “open” relationship policy? Semi-Detached is an 8 x 1 hour drama series which explores what happens when two very different lifestyles collide.
